Beautiful full morocco binding signed MARIUS MICHEL

Henri-François-Victor Michel, known as Marius-Michel 1846-1925, is one of the most important French bookbinders of the 19th and 20th centuries. Victor Léon Maillard (1860-1929) was a French writer and art critic, co-founder of the magazine La Plume.

Henri Boutet (1851-1919) is a French draftsman and engraver, nicknamed the "little master of the corset" or the "painter of the midinette". Boutet specializes during the 1890s in the production of etchings and drypoints representing women in negligee, in the style of "la Parisienne" and has a small success with an informed public. The print is made in a limited edition. His reputation growing, Boutet launched his own publishing house and sold his productions to periodicals such as Le Frou-frou, L'Assiette au beurre, Le Pêle-Mêle, or artistic publications such as La Plume, L'Estampeoriginale, The modern Print or even the Collection of the hundred. It illustrates many almanacs (L'Année feminine), calendars, menus.
