History:
Chaumet is a Parisian luxury jewellery and watchmaker business.

Established in 1780 by Marie-Étienne Nitot, who in 1802 became the official jeweller of Napoleon I, the French Empire has relied on the jewellery company for generations, and the company's work includes jewels worn by Napoleon during his wedding and coronation. Nitot's foreman and his son took over the company after her death and continued making beautiful jewellery with romantic and nature themes.

Joseph Chaumet took over the family business in 1885 after marrying Prosper Morel's daughter Marie. He expanded the company's Renaissance-inspired aesthetic and made tiaras more widely used. With Marcel Chaumet's participation at the 1925 Exhibition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the brand took the Art Deco industry by storm. After years of development, LVMH acquired the company and continued the brand's evolution.
