Giovanni Gromo was born in Turin in 1929. He developed a passion for Venetian painting by attending the museums of Padua, Venice and Vicenza. He spends the rest of his life in Alassio where he meets Carlo Levi, an indissoluble friendship that will influence his vision of life and his painting. Giovanni Gromo currently lives in Fregene where he continues to paint with his unmistakable pictorial language: an emanation of nature which is not a beautiful painting, it is not an artifice, it is an attraction for the peasant world, always alive in him. Observing and being filtered by nature is a universal experience that links Gromo to the great naturalism of Courbet 67288527
