Signed on the sheet of paper hanging on the right "C. Visscher Inv. et Sculp. 1655". In final state.
A ratcatcher, three-quarter view, accompanied by a dog and a small boy on the right holding a post topped with a cage from which some dead rats dangle; the rat catcher wears a fur cap and cape and has a box over his shoulder.
