Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. Binding from the first half of the 19th century in full blue morocco with gold border on the plates; gilt title and fillets on spine, marbled guards. (6)-124 numbered leaves, including the title page with title in red and black and large woodcut depicting St. Bartholomew, in ancient colouring. Inside, 5 engravings and as many colored drop caps, those on page I appear to be of an ancient hand, the others of certainly more recent colouring. Text in Roman type, title in Gothic, copy entirely règle in red ink. Valuable edition of the famous Ciceronian text edited by L. Panaetius, with comments by P. Beroaldo and Omnibono from Vicenza framing the text. Copy in good condition with nice margins, beautiful and coeval coloring of two woodcuts, more modest and recent that of the others, slight trace of dirt on the title page.
