Cc. LVIII, (1, the last white is missing).

Rare third edition of this comedy by Ariosto. Derived from classical models (Terenzio, Plautus), the comedy was composed in 1509, the year of the first printing, and performed in 1519. In 1524, the second edition was published in Rome, actually postulated as the third after an elusive Sienese edition of 1523, cited by some bibliographers but of which no one ever saw a copy. Both the princeps and the Roman of 1524 have errors, while this one of 1525 is certainly not a typographical copy of the first two, and appears typographically more accurate.

A fine copy, excellently preserved.
