Condition: 1 lack on the upper crown, 1 split joint but solid hinges, 2 dented corners, double framing fillet on the covers, spine with raised bands (gilding and title non-existent), old pen writing on the endpapers, quite interior costs. Complete.

Lucain (in Latin Marcus Annaeus Lucanus), born November 3, 39 in Cordoba, in later Hispania, and died April 30, 65, was a Latin poet whose only surviving work, La Pharsalia, is an epic about the civil war that opposed Julius Caesar to Pompey between 49 and 48 BC. J.-C. He commits suicide at the age of 25, on the orders of Nero.
