Märklin - 19440 - Race car Record car with clockwork motor - 1930-1939

Beautiful - completely made of metal - Mercedes racing car by Marklin, item number 19440, in 1998 only for sale in the Marklin Museum. Scale 1:16, length approx. 38 cm.

The car is in a visually and technically perfect condition. It is equipped with a clockwork motor, more of a gimmick than actually functional. The motor works of course and can be stopped with a lever in the cockpit.

This collector's item is more intended as a display model, also because the clockwork motor only drives the car a few meters on a flat surface.

Complete in very nice original packaging, original winding key and certificate of authenticity

The original car, with driver Rudolf Caracciola, set the record in 1937 on the motorway between Frankfurt am Main and Darmstadt. He reached 432.7 km/h, a record that was only broken in 2017. The original car, type W124, had a 12 cylinder 5.6 liter engine with 714 hp.
