Painter and pastelist, 1923-2016. During the war he learned to draw at the Academy of Dendermonde. As a painter largely self-taught, but clearly influenced by L.Spanoghe (Dendermondse School) and by the German painter G.Ratzke.
Citation: René Turkry – "...Frans Van Damme plays on many subjects: still life, portrait, composition, landscape and marine. Frans Van Damme has a strong bond with nature, which is always at the forefront of his work, in which the sometimes violent touch indicates the seasonal moment in a moody way. He paints colorful motifs with often glowing paint accents. In addition, he sometimes gives an ordinary subject the surplus of a visual poetry". Frequent exhibitions in our own country.
