Picturesque and Romantic Voyages in Ancient France is a monumental work published under the direction of Isidore Taylor, known as Baron Taylor, with many collaborators of writers including Charles Nodier and Alphonse de Cailleux, and many draughtsmen, engravers and lithographs, published from 1820 to 1878, which constitutes the first collection of French heritage.
The set comprises 24 large-format folio volumes, divided by region (in fact, 23 volumes, plus an index). They include a part of text, surrounded by frames and vignettes, and series of plates, printed in lithography. The publisher, who also played the role of banker, was Casimir Gide for six provinces, then A.F. Lemaître from 1854. The printer was Firmin Didot.

3 folio volumes (36x54.5 cm), continuous pagination, 220 pp (text) 120 ff (lithographs), 35 pp 177 ff, 86 pp 119 ff, red half morocco with corners, gilt head (Binding of the era), back to nerves. Original edition. Superb illustrations including 416 (out of 417) lithographs.
Good condition, foxing, some evenly scorched boards. Spine and corners (especially volume I) stained. Small loss on the upper section of the 3rd volume, a lithograph is missing. 67361325
