TRIPARTITE ANTHOLOGY OF POEMS, EPITALAMI, EPIGRAMS, EPITAPHS AND EPISTLES, collected by Petrus Lindeberg, German historian, poet, traveller, writer; and of Heinrich Rantzauo Ranzow (Ranzovius) (1526 – 1598) who was a German humanist writer and statesman, as well as a prolific astrologer.

The epithalamium [from lat. epithalamium, gr. ?p??a??µ??? (?µ???) «wedding (hymn)», comp. of ?p? «above, near» and ???aµ?? «thalamus»], a Greek lyrical subgenre imitated later by the Romans, intended to celebrate a wedding in verse, in the bridal chamber; in a broader sense, hymenical song with a popular and playful tone, often grafted onto a mythical motif, cultivated spec. in the Hellenistic age it was a wedding song.
The epigram [from lat. epigram, gr. ?p???aµµa, der. of ?p?????? «write on»] (pl. -i) short composition in verses which, originally arose as an inscription, spec. funerary, then a composition aimed at capturing the memory of a life, an enterprise, an offering, finally assumed, already among the Greeks and Romans, the tone and character of ironic and biting wit, sometimes caricatured.
The epitaph [from lat. late epitaphium, neutral noun of the adj. (formerly class.) epitaphius, from Gr. ?p?t????? «sepulchral» and as s. m. «funeral speech», comp. of ?p? «above» and t???? «tomb»], sepulchral inscription, often in the form of a short poem in verse, which mostly also contains the praises of the deceased, or, also, among the ancient Greeks, a speech delivered by a public speaker to celebrate the heroes who had died for their country.

In 16th, pp. (24), 262. Coeval full parchment binding, with visible bindings, some dark spots. Handwritten title on spine. Cut in the center of the back and some holes on the hinge, back plate and counterplates. Burnished cuts. Rectangle of paper applied to the front pastedown, handwritten bookplate. Typographic brand engraved on the title page. Ex libris label on the back of the title page. Dedication with copper engraving in the text. Woodcut fronts, drop caps and tailpieces.
