Men's vest pocket watch F E Roskopf L'Heure Nationale Belge.

The watch has a stem winding movement, and is signed F E Roskopf and it also has a Swiss patent (or patent) number 18632 referring to a 1900 patent in the name of Fritz Edouard Roskopf for improved adjustment of the hands.

The movement is protected by an inner lid signed F E Roskopf. It also has details of medals won at Exposition Universelle, Paris 1900, Liège 1905 and Milan 1906.

The watch has a diameter of 53.6 mm excluding the stem and the loop and weighs 126 grams. The watch has an interesting white metal case. On the lunette is the text 'l'heure Nationale Belge'... Belgian national time. This is believed to be related to the anniversary of Belgium's introduction of the time zones based on the Greenwich meridian.

The hinged back cover shows the Belgian coat of arms together with the motto 'L'union fait la force'... unity makes strength. This larger central coat of arms is surrounded by smaller ones for the nine Belgian provinces.
