Pietro Gisolfo (d. 1683), priest of the Congregation of the Pious Workers Fathers. Rare seventeenth-century ascetic subject, for use by confessors and religious as well as penitents. Only the first part of this second impression has been published (cf. "The seventeenth-century Neapolitans of the National Library of Naples", p. 180, n. 1382). Coeval binding in full soft parchment; handwritten wording on the spine and ancient writings on the plates; sprayed cuts. Engraving vignette on the title page, headers and finials; corners of first pages curled, discreet interiors with ancient glosses, notes, scribbles and pen marks; between the pages old handwritten sheets. We note the fall of the last page of the index; otherwise the tome is complete and in good condition. Rare seventeenth-century study. 67299423
