Scarce work. No copy for this edition at the CCPB.

Two works bound in a single volume. The second is the extension of the first. The author, Adrian von Mynsicht, a Rosicrucian alchemist and esotericist, introduced the concept of free medical practice. His remedies were widely used by European pharmacists in the 18th century. Like many of the contemporary alchemists, Mynsicht also made a contribution to scientific chemistry and especially to Paracelsism, the medical movement based on the esoteric and therapeutic theories of Paracelsus. The work is a compendium of pharmaceutical and alchemical topics, the first edition was published in 1631 and in addition to describing pharmaceutical remedies it also dealt with the philosopher's stone. The work was expanded with additions by Carlo Musitano and Andrea Battimelli. source: aberbook.

Adrian von Mynsicht ran his own pharmacy and independent medical practice. As a follower of the iatrochemical teachings of Paracelsus, he wrote an alchemical allegory Aureum Seculum redivivum and a pharmaceutical compilation with numerous compounds, including tartar emetic (Potassium Antimony Tartrate), which he first described in 1630. He described himself as “Comes Palatinus Caesareus” (count palatine of the imperial court) and “Poeta Laureate” (laurel-crowned poet).

Potassium antimony tartrate:

It is a double salt of potassium and antimony of tartaric acid, a compound known since the Middle Ages and used in ancient medicine as a powerful emetic or vomiting agent, but highly discounted for being toxic and with dangerous and even deadly side effects. It was also used in the treatment of schistosomiasis and leishmaniasis, but its many drawbacks and toxicity meant that it was used only in extreme cases and alternative medicines were used, so that it has practically not been used since 1970.

It occurs in the form of hemihydrated crystals. It is highly toxic and is used to corrode fabrics and leather, in medicine, as an emetic and sudorific, in perfumery, and as an insecticide. Source: Wikipedia. 67547249
