The identification of this edition is possible because

the title page spells "Monte-Cristo",

whereas the titles and headings of the numbers

spell it "Monte-Christo".




Published as part of "Complete Works

of Alexandre Dumas" in the Supplement

in the Journal "Le Siècle", this edition appeared

immediately after serialization

in "Le Journal des Débats" from August 1844 to January 1845

& after the original edition published in 1845-1846

by Baudry and Pétion




It has at the head of the first 20 notebooks the title:

"Supplement to the newspaper Le Siècle with the date"

that is to say from September 28, 1845 to February 1, 1846.

Bad condition.

Heavily browned interior.

Numerous foxing, wetting & stains.

Stamp Royal Seine 6 c. located on page 170.

Lower corners of the two boards missing.

Top corners of both flats blunted.

Highly leveled top cap.

Stains, rubbing, and heavy scuffs

on half-leather & paper binding on both covers.

Old handwritten inscription in ink

on back cover & flyleaf.
