Tobacco box from the workshop of the engraver Johann Heinrich Giese, Iserlohn, commemorating the Prussian King Friedrich II and the victorious battles of Reichenberg (April 21, 1757) and Prague (May 6, 1757) as well as the bombardment of Prague (May 30, 1757) .

Brass body, elongated box shape with flat, rounded narrow sides. Three-piece construction of undecorated walls, hinged lid; Bottom piece soldered. Lid and base with overlapping profiled edges. The top and bottom of the box bear artistically high-quality, almost intact decoration made using embossing technology, each with three detailed image fields, allegorical figures and finely rocaillated frame ornaments. Heroic inscriptions in Dutch, Latin. Inscribed twice: "GIESE" and "GIESE.f." The extremely rare, exquisite condition of the barely worn, little-used snuff box, isolated dents and scratches, deserves special mention. Object found when clearing out a farmhouse in central Germany (2022). 67315913
