First edition, and first printing. Beautifully and colourfully illustrated with tipped-in tissue-guarded frontispiece, 57 fine colour plates accompanied by descriptions of the cities, and 4 black and white plates.

Published by Chatto and Windus, London, 1907. Publisher’s original green cloth boards, upper board lettered in gilt, with design of a Syrian tile of the XV111 century from a Damascus Mosque, mounted in centre frame. Spine lettered in gilt. Top page edges gilt.

Condition
Light wear to boards’ corners, and bumping to head and foot of spine, with faded white marks on covers. Internally the book is in good condition. No names or inscriptions. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. Inner hinges are very good. Pages are clean, with foxing and spotting marks to endpaper pages and to few other pages. All plates are present and in very good condition (Please see pictures).
