For six years he attended evening studies at the Academy of Visual Arts and Technical Sciences, where he was taught by David Bautz.
As a sculptor, Anton Geerlings was self-taught. As a stone sculptor and woodcarver he made animal figures and figure representations. Geerlings worked, among other things, on the restoration of the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam and was initially mainly active as a restoration sculptor. In 1968 he started for himself, from 1988 he mainly focused on his own work.
