I have here for sale a book entitled MY KALULU Prince, King and Slave: A Story of Central Africa by Henry M Stanley. It is a new and cheaper edition published by Sampson Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington in 1889. This book was aimed at boys who had a thirst for knowledge of African travel and is a mix of fact (based on his many travels in the continent) and fiction making it into an adventure story. Kalulu was a slave and adopted child of Stanley, given to him in Tabora, Tanzania. There are 8 b/w plates.
Chestnut coloured hardboards with gilt and black illustration to the front board. Black and chestnut title lettering. Small image and black and gilt lettering to the spine. Bumping to head and tail. Very minor wear to one corner. New marbled endpapers have been added. Some spotting to page edges but otherwise clean with tight binding. 432 pages plus 32 page publisher's catalogue. 19 x 13 cm. 67389197
