Madame de Genlis was responsible for the education of the children of the Orleans family, the younger branch of the Royal House. She will therefore be responsible for the children of the Duke of Chartres, later called Philippe Egalité, of whom she will become the mistress, and particularly that of Louis-Philippe, the future King of France.
