Louis-Augustin-Guillaume Bosc d'Antic studied in Dijon, where he was a pupil of Jean-François Durande, then followed the botanical education of Jussieu in Paris.

He was a friend of the Roland couple: it was to him that Mme Roland entrusted her manuscripts and the guardianship of her daughter, before going up to the scaffold.

Back in favor after the Terror, he was entrusted by the government of the Directory with diplomatic posts in the United States.
He traveled to Switzerland and Italy and obtained, in 1806, thanks to Georges Cuvier, a position in the gardens and nurseries of Versailles.

He assembled a collection of natural history which he donated to his naturalist friends. In 1825, he succeeded André Thouin in the chair of culture at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris.
