Nice watercolor by Kees Maks and beautifully framed (41 x 33 cm)

The painter Kees Maks was a student of G.H. Breitner, which can be found in the bold, robust design of many of his paintings. He lived alternately in Amsterdam and Paris and mainly painted scenes from the world of the circus and theater in a rich color scheme and with strong contrasts of light and dark. His work was perceived by contemporaries as un-Dutch, but was well received in France, especially in Paris. From 1910 to 1945, Maks took part in the annual Salons. 67540597
