Rare antique French statue made of hand-painted plaster depicting Saint Expeditus Expedite

The statue depicts Saint Expeditus with a cross in one hand and a feather in his other arm.
He stands on a bird that has a paper message in its beak.

It is signed on the back of the base, and marked "PIERACCINI" maker/artist

Expeditus is revered as the patron saint of urgent matters that cannot be delayed and is invoked for quick solutions.

According to tradition, Expeditus was a Roman centurion in Armenia who became a Christian and was beheaded during Diocletian's persecution in 303 AD.

In a good vintage condition, a few small chips, nothing serious, this does not detract from the beauty of this beautiful and rare statue
