Starting in 1636, the two cartographers reworked Mercator's work, initially using and correcting the plates and subsequently enriching them with new and modern maps.
Copper engraving on laid paper with coeval colouring: clear impression, cartouche with title in the upper left corner and, on the right, distance scale, in the lower right corner the author's dedication; wide margins and verso in French; diffuse accentuated burnishing to edges, central publisher's crease and small cracks at top repaired with suitable removable acrylic tape.
