Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. Votive tile painted in oil on wood around the middle of the 19th century and depicting Saint Hubert. It was probably inserted in a ceiling decoration or boaserie and presents itself with the patina of time and without restorations. Saint Hubert, called "the apostle of the Ardennes", belonged to the Merovingian dynasty: he was bishop of Maastricht and first bishop of Liège; he is revered as a saint by the Catholic Church and patron saint of hunters. Due to the woodworm, the tile was treated with anti-woodworm and measures 46x22 cm, I would also like to point out the small corrosion on the perimeter edges. Due to current regulations, it cannot be shipped outside the European Union. 67254023
