Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. This special and heavy baker's board "Consequences of drinking", comes from the estate of my grandfather E.G. Stokvis (1880-1964), antique dealer in Hoorn (NH) and Veere (Zeeland).

The shelf dates from the 2nd half of the 19th century and comes from West Friesland.

Some woodworm holes were closed by my grandfather with putty wax.

On the right, the father is seen at a table with a jug and a glass on it. He gets a slap in the face from his mother because he doesn't take good care of his family (child and dog).

On the left is the same man with his hand in front of his (blue?) eye and his hat in his other hand. He must answer to the court, on the right are his wife and the prosecutor. 67414315
