Jean-Henri CHOUPPE is a painter, watercolourist and lithographer born in ORLÉANS on January 6, 1817 and died there on March 28, 1894.
Friend of George SAND and Théodore ROUSSEAU, co-founder of the BARBIZON School, to which CHOUPPE was attached.
His works are considerable, his drawings renowned for their picturesque fidelity and precise graphics are prized by historians and collectors in old ORLÉANS and elsewhere.
He notably painted landscapes of BRITTANY, SOLOGNE and his native region. He exhibited in PARIS from 1857.
