LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN BLUE EDITION - Collectors plaque on fine German Marken-porcelain with gold rimming of a famous painting made by ANDY WARHOL. This concerns a unique edition commissioned in 1997 by the Beethoven Foundation in Bonn in collaboration with the Warhol Foundation in memorium of Warhol, ten years after his passing. This collectors piece is a one-off worldwide edition, signed at the back in plate by Andy Warhol and handnumbered 1183 of 39.000, including a Certificate of Authenticity by the Beethoven Foundation.

The Beethoven paintings of Andy Warhol are one of the unique series he created late in his career right before his death. The series consists of four paintings of the nineteenth-century composer portrayed in Warhols Pop Art style, based on a 1820 iconic portret by painter Joseph Karl Stieler. The Beethoven series captures the defining characteristics of the composer by placing a sheet of music over his portrait. The melody that is imprinted onto the page is Beethoven’s Sonata No. 14, better known as the Moonlight Sonata.

In excellent condition - gold rim fully in tact - will be shipped with care. 67017409
