Wide octavo (203mm X 171mm) volume in contemporary vellum with yapped fore-edges, three remaining of four remaining original cloth ties, manuscript title on spine, oval gold-stamped arms within a wreath with lettering 'NGB LRI MD.' to both covers, and vellum reback. Facing end-papers and two fly-leaves at front and back. In old ink there is a small amount of probable shelf identification lettering and numbers, some within a small pasted label, to second fly-leaf verso. Double column text throughout all three parts and indexes.

Condition: Vellum shows a crack along most of outer front hinge where front board with front end-papers, fly-leaves and first three leaves of text, are tenuously attached by the vellum over the lower outer hinge [see photos]; rest of block is very sturdy. Vellum also shows rubbing to upper and lower edges, and a 90 degree closed year to head of spine. Leaves show varying levels of age-browning and water staining throughout, yet text remains clear. Early ink inscriptions to first title.
