NOTES: Publication of the catalog of works from the Intermidiart collection. Work with trace of signature in the lower right corner. Certificate of Guarantee and Lawful Origin. Artwork with golden frame:

Wonderful oil painting on canvas made by a talented impressionist painter active in Belgium between the end of the 1800s and the beginning of the 1900s. The canvas, with traces of the signature "SIMONI (?)" in the lower left corner, depicts a glimpse of a marine view, with the shot in the foreground of two boats moored on the seashore at sunset.
The artist uses the impressionist technique, based on the perception of realities and not on the expression of his concept. The colors are surprisingly soft, strong, poised and pure. The artist highlights the shapes by outlining with dark and wavy contours, in the background, however, the brushstrokes are in layers of light color to highlight the boat moored on the seashore. In the sky, on the other hand, the brushstrokes are more full-bodied and sinuous, making the work alive and throbbing, as happens in the works of the great masters of the impressionist current. The sea in the foreground causes the sky to merge, creating a placid and unitary vision: the soft colors lighten upwards until they take on the same color as the sky. The subject was outdoors and illuminated by a late-day sunlight, on the threshold of sunset ("en plain air" painting).
The work of excellent artistic and chromatic rendering is in a fairly good state of conservation - considering the age of the painting - with full-bodied and material brushstrokes, and with beautifully inserted colors making the painting harmonious and elegant. The pictorial surface has a patina, and with the study of the magnifying glass, the thickness of the pigments and some characteristics of the pictorial layer can be observed in the icastic plane, compatible with the painting of the time. On the canvas there are small cuts with drops of color on the right side at the bottom and top. Checks with the Wood lamp did not reveal any major restorations or tampering with the pictorial pigment, and at the same time demonstrates how the original paint appears as a semi-transparent milky layer, cautiously allowing us a temporal confirmation of the execution of the work coinciding with the historical period of the table corresponding to the period of realization. In grazing sunlight, on the other hand, the characteristics of the color applied as a body and of the trend of the brushstroke are visible, such as: relief, direction, curvature and craquelé. Signed lower left. The work has a good pictorial quality, and is embellished with a beautiful Baroque-style frame in carved and gilded wood (dimensions approx. 50 x 68 x 5 cm). "The frame shown in the photos above has been added to the artwork by the seller or a third party. The frame is provided to you at no additional cost so it is ready to display as soon as it arrives. The frame is included as a gift courtesy and is not considered an integral part of the artwork. Therefore, any potential damage to the frame that does not affect the artwork itself will not be accepted as a valid reason to open a claim or request cancellation of the order ."
