A green drinking glass/barrel with holes for the "greasy" fingers
In the Netherlands and Germany, such glasses/vessels were called "thumb glasses", they had eight holes to put the "greasy" fingers in so that the glass/vessel would not fall out of your hands.
The English version is of higher quality and high craftsmanship and has 6 holes for the "greasy" fingers.
This handmade glass/barrel dates from the period 1800-1850 and is in excellent condition, no damage, no chips or the like.
Only the lid has been lost over the years.

Such glasses/vessels are very occasionally offered for sale in the free trade and can only be admired in museums. 67356367
