The Roman Breviary following the reformation of the Holy Council of Trent.
Lyon, Pierre Valfray [then] Paris, Antoine François Chippier, 1727. 4 volumes large in-8, approximately 800p per volume.
Rare breviary, complete with 4 volumes, with some full-page engravings. The work is full of proper saints added at the end of the volume.
Interesting copy resold by Chippier who added two labels on the title pages to hide the initial bookseller: a large label with his name and address. A small label indicating "à Lyon et se vend" [in Paris, etc].
Full sheepskin slightly posterior, spine ribbed, solid set but some split joints, missing corners, body of work in good condition, only one volume with quills offset and probably a missing sheet on a clean office added at the end, some formerly reinforced corners. A few sheets (8) with tears and lack of paper in the winter volume (a few letters missing). Some lack of leather on the boards.
Very rare set, no copy on the market.
High overall weight. 67332961
