Magnificent children's album relating to the story of Joan of Arc, preserved in its splendid folio cardboard illustrated in the style of medieval illumination.

Rare copies, one of 150 on Dutch Van Gelder paper in the form (N 150) with a complete suite in black of the brocaded illustration at the end of the book (before the copies on drawing paper from the Papeteries Royales de Maestricht) .

P.-L. Duchartre was one of the very first publishers to work on the aesthetic Renaissance of children's books. Author of a reference work on "popular imagery", he entrusts the text here to J.-J. Brousson, a scholar who provides the volume with a glossary of medieval terms and the illustrations to Olesiewiecz who by pastiche 15th century engravings and illuminations creates an original illustration with 57 hand-applied, pattern-colored compositions.

Condition: Slightly pierced corners and slight traces of dirt on the boards otherwise in very good condition.
