First edition containing 41 biographies of actors, each accompanied by an out-of-text portrait etched on China paper, by Frédéric Hillemacher. It also includes an engraved vignette at the head of the foreword.

Binding of David executed in tan half-morocco with corners, spine with 5 nerves, title and date with gilt letters, beautiful boxes with floral decoration with cribbed irons, gilt fillets on the covers, gilt head, untrimmed.

Menu handling faults. Immaculate interior. Uncropped margins.

Important historical galleries including the biography of the main actors and actresses of the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century. Book following the Troupe of Voltaire published at the same address in 1861 printed in 250 copies.
