Capon frères & Muller
A beautiful pair of French art deco wall sconces made around 1925-1930 in nickel plated solid brass or bronze and clear frosted molded-pressed glass. They were designed by Capon frères. The company of the brothers Georges and Eugène Capon in Paris (40 rue de l'Assomption). Georges was a silversmith and Eugène 'ciseleur' (engraver). Alongside vases and other items, they also made a small line of chandeliers table lamps and wall sconces. Displayed amongst the best designers of the era they were very successful at the 1925 Art Décorative exhibit in Paris (see catalog picture). Nowadays Capon art deco fixtures make high prices at auction houses.

The wall sconces have shades by Muller freres. Both are signed Muller freres Luneville. In the old product catalogs this model is referred to as 'The Waterdrops'. The mounts are signed Capon on the backside. The sconces are in excellent condition. I re-nickeled and patinated the mountings. And rewired them with American candelabra base sockets. For European countries I will place E14 ones.

They are 24 cm high and project 18,5 cm from the wall. The shades have a diameter of 13,5 cm.

Safe packaging guaranteed : As specialized restorer of French art Deco lighting for over 20 years I ship my parcels worldwide with the fragile items well protected and fully insured. Being custom made (changed wiring) I can accept no returns.
