Otto Scheuerer (October 31, 1862 in Munich – December 5, 1934 in Munich) was a German animal painter. The younger brother of the animal painter Julius Scheuerer (1859-1913) worked in Munich.

Otto Scheuerer first learned to paint as an autodidact, possibly with the help of his brother Julius. He then studied painting with Karl Raupp, but was not entered in the register of the Munich Academy of Fine Arts.

Scheuerer became a member of the Munich artists' cooperative. The Dutch old masters were models for his paintings. In addition to the poultry, he also painted hunting scenes. The influence of the Chiemsee painters is noticeable in his early works.

More information about Scheuerer can be found on the website of the RKD:

Provenance: The work comes from a private collection in the South of the Netherlands
