Gulliver's travels undoubtedly constitute the major utopia of the 18th century and a pinnacle of social and political satire. These trips are 4 in number and Swift skillfully mixes philosophy, science fiction, fantasy, satire and reason. In the first voyage, Gulliver is a giant; in the second, on the contrary, he finds himself among giants; in the third, Gulliver meets men who have lost all common sense by abusing speculative philosophy; and in the last journey, Gulliver encounters horses that have enslaved men "Mr. Swift is Rabelais in his common sense" (Voltaire).
