And Reason?’ By Lewis Carroll. Illustrated by Arthur B. Frost and Henry Holiday (, published in London by Macmillan and Co. 1892.

Condition: Original hardcover red cloth binding, beautiful gold gilt lining around edges, central design, and title font. Spine is worn with mild rubbing to corners of boards. Upper portion of spine is missing, otherwise very good, especially inside. Pristine black endpapers, one
repaired to reinforce the book. Crisp pages, clean content and illustrations, some of the leaves have some offset. Rigid back.

This book is a collection of Carroll’s poems, including ‘Phantasmagoria,’ ‘A Valentine,’ ‘Poeta Fit,’ and ‘Non Nascitur.’ This collection also has The Hunting of the Snark.

Book_2_ The hunting of the snark’ by Lewis carrol in an unusual post-ww2 edition illustrated by Peake Mervyn 1st Edition thus. A Zodiac Book, 1948. No jacket as issued. Illustrated by Mervyn Peake. Yellow boards with black lettering to spine and design in black to front and back are very good with minor discolouration and tears on top spine and some loss on lower third. Pages are clean and the binding is tight, one book stamp. Previous owner's name in pen to front end-paper dated 1948. Very occasional small marks to pages. No other faults.

A nice and unusual copy with beautiful illustrations.
