Beautiful map of the siege and capture of Maastricht by the State troops led by Prince Frederik Hendrik ('the City Forcer') in 1632 during the 80-year war against the Spaniards.

The map shows the fortified city, the river Maas and the surrounding area with the army camps of the besiegers. Bottom right the Dutch captains. Top right a title cartouche with the arms of Limburg and Maastricht.

Published in 1652 in Utrecht by Widow van Snellaert and Gerrit van Nieuwenhuizen in 'Frederick Hendrick van Nassauw Prince van Orangien, Zyn Leven and Bedryf.', Isaac Commelin.

Very good condition, a few minor reinforcements/repairs on the back without affecting the image.
