Jacques Pelissier, born in 1967, lives and works in Nice.
In the 1980s, he joined the ESAG, which later became the internationally renowned Penninghen School.
Very quickly after his studies Jacques Pelissier will make a name for himself, first of all by exhibiting at the very influential Galerie Lola Gassin in Nice. It will then be Paris, Isle sur la Sorgue, Ireland, England, Korea etc.
In 2017 he presents his new work around his plasticine portraits in New York, at the Nomo Gallery. He made a pilgrimage to Crosby Street where a certain Jean-Michel Basquiat had his studio.
This jack of all trades does not hesitate to abandon his brushes to get his hands on modeling clay, a raw material that this passionate "pulverizer", whose workshop looks like a scullery, uses to give flesh to his creations.

“Jacques Pélissier makes portraits in modeling clay of the artists he loves: Warhol, Basquiat, Saint Laurent… One day when he was babysitting his sick daughter, he started using modeling clay to make portraits, flat, which he then photographs and on which he paints. These creations are exceptional and touch me because Pélissier manages, with modeling clay, to restore a depth in the eyes of these artists. It is not the spectator who looks at the work but the character who looks at you and despite the economy of means, a mad beauty emerges. He exhibited in Paris and is starting to exhibit in the USA.”
