(1563/1621), French writer, poet and playwright, author of numerous historiographical works.

The first Lyon edition of 1594 follows.
This is the history of France, with over 1000
pages of history, during the reigns of
Henry III, Henry IV (le Grand) e
Louis XIII (the Iustes).
At the beginning of each chapter there is a splendid engraving of the three rulers
of the time, on horseback, in official armour.
In the text there is a chapter dedicated to the wars, between the houses of France and Spain, which took place during the reigns of the
Christian kings (in chronological order):
Francis I, Henry II, Francis II, Charles IX,
Henry III and Henry IV.
Beautiful binding, from a little later, in full rigid parchment, with an elegant leather insert, gilded and decorated, bearing the author and title. Passing laces and traces of colored silk laces.
Slight warping of the plates.
Compact interior, anchored to the back and well preserved.
Intact leaves, including the title page
and the 3 full page engravings.
There are physiological brownings, more or less accentuated, with rare small spots on the pages.
However, the text is perfectly readable.
Cuts originally sprayed with red lead.
Original guards preserved.
Original copy in all its parts.
The general conservation of the work is very good.
