Venice on legal issues of 1689, Doge Francesco Morosini period 1689 Francesco Morosini, also known as the Peloponnesian (Venice, 26 February 1619 – Nauplia, 6 January 1694), was the 108th doge of the Republic of Venice from 3 April 1688 until upon his death.
He was appointed Captain General da Mar four times and later Doge. On 11 August 1687, for the merits obtained on the battlefield, he obtained a bronze monument from the Venetian Senate (the only one in the history of the Republic of Venice to obtain this honor while he was still alive), placed inside the armory of the Council dei Dieci in Palazzo Ducale, and the title of Peloponnesian. The inscription under the bust reported: "The Senate to Francesco Morosini, the Peloponnesian, still alive" (Francisco Mauroceno Peloponesiaco, adhuc vive Senatus).
