Daum Nancy vase from the early 1900s
With trees in relief and sunset
Green, yellow, orange colors
Daum's unique technique won a 'Grand Prix' medal. During the Paris Universal Exposition of 1900 Daum's glass became increasingly elaborate, treated with acid (by Jacques Grüber) and often worked as a sculpture; for the production of creative objects, a single piece of glass was subjected to engraving and enamelling. The Daum brothers quickly became a major force in the Art Nouveau movement, seriously rivaling Gallé, so much so that when the latter died in 1904 they became the leaders in the decorated glass industry. 66586343
