Jean Jules Bernard Salmson, was born in Paris on July 18, 1823 and died in Coupvray on May 6, 1902.
Biography:
Jules Salmson is the son of Jean-Baptiste Salmson (sv) (1807-1866), engraver of medals and fine stones of Swedish origin, residing in Paris in 1822. His cousin is the painter Hugo Salmson (1843-1894).

In 1867 he stayed at 26 Rue Condorcet in Paris when he was made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour.

In 1876 he made the plaster of the statue of Henry IV for the town hall of La Rochelle, the model of the ceramic statue of Théodore Deck, La Prudence for the commercial court of the Seine, caryatids for the Vaudeville theater (current Gaumont-Opéra) in Paris , La Gloire for the new Louvre Palace, the statue of Handel for the Opéra Garnier.

In this bronze sculptural artwork we have his representation of Demeter, the goddess of fertility. Dated 1864.
The size, weight and quality are museum-worthy.
