A brass scientific instrument used by the Lotus brewers in London

A complete antique Sikes Hydrometer set with all nine brass weights and the end cap individually marked with the serial number 12819
The thermometer is in good condition with no breaks in the line and with the original mercury.
Packaged in a beautifully mounted mahogany case

FYI: Bartholomew Sikes was a British excise officer who developed these hydrometers to determine the alcohol percentage and therefore the associated levies on spirits
