Josep Olivet Legares (Olot, Province of Girona, 1887 – Barcelona, 1956) was a painter from Olot and an outstanding landscape painter. He trained at the Olot School of Art and at the Galí Academy in Barcelona (1911-12). He later studied in Rome at the Regio Instituto de Belle Arti. Later he visited France, England and Italy and in the latter country, he studied and painted. After the trip through the world of art, he returned to Barcelona and went to Madrid with José María López Mezquita. He attended the National Exhibition in Madrid (1915) and exhibited individually at the Faianç Català in 1916.
Successively held exhibitions every year. Olivet Legares was steeped in the spirit and mistress of Corot and is considered one of the best Catalan landscape artists. Due to his work of strong technique, of a singular charm of passion and feeling, he was in his time the painter from Olot with the greatest roots, prestige and personality. His work constitutes a continuity of the Olotine landscape school with the greatest chromatic richness. 67540135
