Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. These earrings date back to the 1980s and were made in the Torre del Greco goldsmith workshops (Naples, Italy). They are a stock fund, therefore never worn and in perfect aesthetic condition.
Each earring is made up of 9 lapis lazuli balls of 8 mm in diameter each drilled side by side and held together by a yellow gold wire which ends with a pin on one side and a round link on the other.
The pernio is associated with a butterfly which is used to hold the earring still to the lobe. Furthermore, each bean is embellished with two cups, also in 18-karat gold.
The diameter is 3.5 cm and the total weight is 18.2 grams of which 6 of gold alone.
Colored stones are commonly treated to improve their quality, these have not been tested for this purpose.
