The work of Emmanuelle Tartas transports us¡
A palette of reds and earth colors (laterite), a personal universe of metaphorical motifs, masks, fantastic characters and other expressionist figures, transport us to a dream where nostalgia for childhood lived in Africa (Senegal) and questioning exile, identity and colonial impact.

The artist is influenced by Klimt for the confrontation of materials and Egon Schiele for the expressiveness of his line.
The techniques of a raw use of materials such as earth, plaster, oakum arise as a symbol of what would be a double identity, Western and African. The pure pigments, symbolizing earth and laterite, mixed with linseed oil and applied with the finger or with a hard brush, make the color vibrate and collide with the glazes and the delicate patterns applied with a soft brush.
