About this book
The 14-volume Liber Regni Vegetabilis (Book of the Plant Kingdom) was created in the 18th century but lay undiscovered in Vaduz Castle until recently. It contains exceptionally detailed illustrations of some 3100 plant species from all over the world. More than half of the watercolour paintings are the work of the brothers Franz and Ferdinand Bauer, who are amongst the greatest botanical illustrators of all time. The dramatic rescue of the Codex Liechtenstein during the World War 2, involving its being transported from Vienna to Vaduz, is also described.
