He was born in El Viso de los Pedroches (Córdoba), in 1974 when he was twelve years old his family moved to Seville, where he lives, studies and trains as a painter and where he achieves great public notoriety through the many successes and awards he has received and the good gained recognition for his master pictorial work.
José González is one of the great masters of Sevillian painting.
His extraordinary pictorial language has been taking shape little by little until reaching that personal force of expressive and colorful purity, full of exquisite communicative sensitivity,
that today is publicly recognized not only in Seville and all of Andalusia, but also at a national level.
A refined master in the domain of oil, pastel, tempera and ceramics, he stands out and excels, in a degree of singular excellence, in the art of watercolor where he reaches the pinnacle of that perfection that only a select few achieve.
José González, teacher of teachers, has managed to assemble and transmit, from the depths of his soul and his Sevillian perception, a whole world of pictorial sensations, of pure costumbrista classicism, but with such a personal theme that makes his works unrepeatable.
There are painters who see the world from their hearts, which is the city in which they live, and to live, always, is to love, remember, hope, want, fear.
Seeing the world through the city in which his sensibility originates is already well advanced in expressing the world, in proposing it as a paradigm, as a microcosm from which the total vision of a plastic project, of a style, is achieved.
This is how Vermeer felt and did it from Delft, Utrillo from Paris, Solana from Madrid, Romero de Torres from Córdoba, Alfonso Grosso from the secluded convents of Seville. And now, José González, whose image of the world is his image of Seville, with all that it has in memory in our eyes and in its daily history.
It is not an easy undertaking precisely because of the familiarity of the images, which cannot be violated, but rather recreated by updating them, bringing them up to date without taking away how much we love in them, everything they inherited and what they will transmit.
